5 Power Foods For Winter Chills?
Got the winter chills? I'm feeling the effects of the cold this past week, and this means that my time training has also been effected. Today I decided to pack in the Vitamin C with a healthy smoothie. This particular mix had a mixture of blackberries, blueberries, strawberry, with some guarana mixed in for some added energy. The berries that were added are packed with antioxidants. By now the internet is packed with information into the benefits of antioxidants. "Most antioxidants have the ability to share electrons with free radicals in the body. Donation or sharing of an electron stabilizes the free radicals and renders it inactive and incapable of cellular destruction" (Richmond, W. FIA, 2001).
So what are some fantastic foods to fight the winter blues. Here is a list of power packed, antioxidant super foods:
- Broccoli - Packed with Vitamin C, listen to your mum when she tells you to eat them!
- Sunflower Seeds - Love them for their rich source of protien and their Vitamin E.
- Mango - Beta Carotene filled and an excellent addition in a smoothie.
- Strawberries - Strawberries are excellent sources for Vitamin C and taste great too.
- Almonds - Full of Vitamin E, and popular in many skin care products.
So there you have it. When you feel the winter chills getting the better of you, try the above foods to get you back on track to better health.
